Former Campers' family to host fundraiser for Camp Koala!

We are so proud to announce that a 2011 camper and her family are hosting a run/walk event, and donating the proceeds to Camp Koala! That is really paying it forward! We feel especially honored that Olivia's family has chosen us as the recipient. Thank you for this honor, we are deeply humbled. Please read on to hear from the family:

We have chosen Camp Koala as the benefactor of this year's race. Sophie's sister, Olivia, attended Camp Koala and felt the special connection to other children there.

In November 2011 we would have celebrated Sophie’s sixth birthday. Instead because of a tragic accident, we honored her memory with a 6K run/walk. A year later, we continue to remember and celebrate the time we had with her, as we host the 2nd annual Sophie's Six.

It has been over three years since she passed away, but sometimes the memories of her are so clear that you feel like she’s in the room. You can hear her pounding across the room with heavy feet or imagine her playing babies with her sister Livi. We cherish these memories and recognize that our lives have been so much sweeter having been touched by her.

Please visit the above link for information about the race/walk on Saturday, Nov 17 at Wilson College. The walk/fun run is only one mile, and is great for kids; the run is six miles, great for runners!

Camp Koala 2012!

Camp is less than a month away! Our Big Buddy Volunteer training is this month, and we are exciting to meet our new volunteers, and to see our old faces returning. We welcome our two new therapy dogs and their wonderful handlers, who will be with us for the entire weekend. Our wonderful staff of session leaders, volunteers, kitchen helpers and cooks are ready to go! We have enthusiastic music therapists, art therapists, dance and movement therapists and grief specialists on board for a terrific weekend. Our camp has been 'filled to the brim' for many months, and we are so excited to meet our new campers!!

Thanks to everyone who came to our gala on St. Patrick's Day! We had a great turnout, the band was super, the food was great, and the silent auction was amazing.

Please join us for the second annual Winter Wellness Day Benefit!! Sponsored by the Family Wellness Center at Briarsdale (1000 Briarsdale Rd., Harrisburg). We have been chosen again as the nonprofit to benefit from the proceeds from this event!! Thank you very much for choosing us!

We would love to have as many Camp Koala friends as possible join us at this event. It is a fun day, where you get to pamper yourself! And, did we mention the amazing organic, catered lunch?

You can choose four of the eight workshops, and also two yoga classes. Like: 'YOUR HOLISTIC HOME SPA; DETOXIFY YOUR LIFE; MASSAGE; FOOD SENSITIVITY; THE HAPPY BRAIN,' etc...

And best of all, you enjoy free samples, goodie bags, door prizes, and an amazing silent auction! We're working on getting our silent auction items ready now!

Please consider making a holiday donation to Camp Koala. We are raising funds now to expand our Family Workshop in the Fall of 2012, to 12-16 workshops for the entire grieving family.
